Saint Mary's Church, East Walton, Norfolk
East Walton is a small village (Pop: 85 approx, 32 dwellings) in West Norfolk, about 10 miles east of Kings Lynn, one of three villages within the West Acre Estate.
Regular Sunday services of Holy Communion are held in the parish church each month. The congregation is small, but committed, and the church building is in good repair. The tower has recently been restored and you can find more information about our Round Tower Church on the Norfolk Churches web site here.
We boast a thriving Montessori school in the village established over 25 years; run by teachers and assistants living in the village.
Set in a lovely rural location with deep roots in agriculture the church and village celebrate the importance the seasons and farming play in our lives with ‘alternative’ services (which nearly always involve food!) held regularly throughout the year to mark important events such as lambing, rogation, lammas and harvest.
There is a strong village community. The annual 2011 November 5th village bonfire had a crowd of around 700 people and raised £2000 for charity.
Plans for 2012 include a village celebration for the Queens Diamond Jubilee and a fun ‘Countryside Olympics’ in the summer with events such as Wellie Wanging and Straw Bale Hurdling! Watch this space!!
